Description

This module examines the evolution of the international system in East Asia from the late 19th century until the late 20th century. It will examine how and why different systems rose and fell in East Asia, and how the foreign policies of major states in the Asia-Pacific influenced those developments. This course examines the interlocking relations among China, Japan, Korea, the United States, and Russia, paying substantial attention to the developments surrounding the Korean peninsula.
